Mary was born on August 11, 1925, in Corning, NY to Joseph and Augusta (Andrade) Fernandes. She graduated from Corning Free Academy in the class of 1943 and started working three days after graduation for Corning Glass Works where she retired as an executive secretary in 1987.
Mary is survived by her niece, Mary Jo Powley of Painted Post; niece, Ann Marie (Melvin) Calkins of Campbell; nephew, Joseph (Cindy) Fernandes of Ingles, FL; niece, Tangy Fernandes of Campbell; nephew, Anthony Fernandes of Campbell; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Augusta Fernandes; brother, Joseph (Mary) Fernandes; and sisters, Shirley Fernandes and Louise Fernandes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 30th at St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street in Corning. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.
