Mary Ferrera (Fisichella), a lifelong resident of the Merrimack Valley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

Mary will always be remembered and treasured as "Auntie Mary" to all of her beloved nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. The world cannot imagine a more devoted aunt. Mary was famous for her moral backbone of steel as well as her candor. These traits honored the dignity of every person she met. With her signature blend of honesty and caring, she could always be counted on to be the unwavering and unconditional champion in her family's corner. She was also unfailingly generous, always sharing what she had and relishing opportunities to treat her family.

Everyday, Mary prayed for each member of her family and thanked God for her many blessings. She was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church for her entire life, and was a lifelong member of the St. Rita Sodality.

Mary adored her mother and father and was a dedicated caretaker and archivist of her family's Italian heritage, of which she was especially proud. She carefully preserved the stories and artifacts of their hard work in achieving the American dream to share with the next generations of her family. Her cooking skills were cultivated by her mother and grandmother and she faithfully recorded and shared their family recipes, which have nurtured her family at countless family gatherings and celebrations.

Born at Newbury and Summer St. in Lawrence on March 2, 1930 to Sicilian immigrants Angelo and Agatha Fisichella (Sciuto), Mary was the devoted eldest daughter of four children, embodying a lifelong commitment of faithfulness, loyalty, and selflessness.

Mary graduated from Methuen's Edward Searles High School in 1947. After which she entered the workforce to help her father as a bookkeeper, and later financial manager, at his wholesale merchandise store, Fisi Sales Co., which he founded in 1926 at 1 Jackson St. in Lawrence. Mary worked at Fisi Sales for over fifty years until her retirement and was critical to the business' success.

She married Rudolph (Rudy) Ferrera in 1958 and they settled in Reading. She was his faithful and loving wife until his death in 1978, upon which she returned to Methuen to care for her mother. She loved to visit Hampton Beach, NH and was a seasonal resident for nearly twenty years.

Mary is predeceased by her husband, her sister, Concetta (Connie) Fisichella, and her brother, Attorney Angelo R. Fisichella Jr.

She is survived by her sister Josephine Fisichella of Savannah, GA, her sister-in-law Marie Fisichella of Hampstead, NH and her beloved nieces and nephews: Linda Broderick (Bernal) and her husband Thomas of Haverhill; Agnes McGrail (Bernal) of Hawthorn Woods, IL; Angelo Fisichella III and his wife Lauryn of Bradford, NH; Arlene Distel (Uszynski) and her husband Jon of Savannah, GA; Leslie P. Bernal and his wife Eileen of Lawrence; Connie Jo Beer (Bernal) and her husband Ted of Brewster; Christopher Fisichella of Foxborough; and Al Uszynski of Atlanta, GA. Mary also leaves behind all her beloved grand nieces and nephews: David, Nicholas, Caitlin, Mary Elise, Thomas, Audrey, Ruby, Andrew, Maggie, Christian, Cameron, Taylor, Ethan, Richard, Victoria, Megan, and Jack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 27 at 10:00AM at Holy Rosary Shrine, 35 Essex Street, Lawrence. Interment will follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.
