Mary Jo Futia, 67, of Goreville, IL, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025 at the Marion V.A. Medical Center, Marion, IL.

She was born on September 29, 1957 in Lincoln, IL, to James and Lois (Jones) Emmons.

Mary was a graduate of Dwight Township High School.

She proudly served her nation in the U.S. Navy. After her period of faithful service, she was honorably discharged.

Mary's working career was spent as a guard for the Vienna Correctional Center. She was the mother of 5 sons who kept her very busy. Mary was an avid lover of animals. She was known to have nursed many sick animals back to health, including deer, goats, raccoons, and opossums. In her spare time she loved to fish, but especially love spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Andy Lyons, Leonard Futia (Debra), James Futia, and Anthony Futia; twin brother, Terry; sister, Barbara Jean; several grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Reuben Lyons; and brothers, Jimmy Emmons, Ronnie Emmons, and Gary Emmons.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.

Per Mary's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no public services will be held at this time.
