Obituary of Mary Galano
It is with profound sadness and enduring love that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Mary Ann Galano (Allocco) of Warren Township, New Jersey. She passed away after a very long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the age of 79. She was surrounded by her family during her final days, who were blessed with the opportunity to shepherd her to peace.
Born to Saverio and Philomena Allocco of
Madison, New Jersey, Mary was one of the four "Allocco Sisters," and was a true steward of kindness, humility, and compassion. She possessed a remarkable capacity to love and a humble enthusiasm for life, all qualities that saw her through navigating life's challenges. She built her world around family and friendship and easily shared her warmth, laughter, and spirit with every person that came her way.
Mary was a true success of a person, a force deeply committed to a strong work ethic and a firm believer in strength of character. She was a high-performing graduate of Madison High School and worked as an administrative assistant at Allied Chemical Corporation. While employed, she earned her associate degree in business at the County College of Morris and subsequently raised a family. She proudly worked in retail sales at Edgewood Pharmacy in Warren Township, where she made countless friends and passed on her legacy of laughter and love.
She looked for every opportunity to gather family together, usually around a dinner table for her famous lasagna, and showered her granddaughters with incredible love and affection.
Mary was an avid gardener alongside her daughters, and spent a considerable amount of time crocheting hats for cancer patients through a local non-profit organization.
She is survived by her loving family, who continue to adore her beyond measure: husband John Galano of Warren Township; daughter Jennifer Peiffer (Galano), son-in-law Austin Peiffer, and cherished granddaughters Samantha and Andrea Peiffer of Warren Township; and daughter Jessica Nikitin (Galano) and son-in-law Alex Nikitin of South Orange, New Jersey.
She is also survived by her sisters Josephine Blair and Lucille Fitze; sister-in-law Marie Galano and brothers-in-law Joseph Chiarolanzio, Michael Galano, and Walter McGarrity; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, sister Antoinette Chiarolanzio, and her brothers-in-law John Blair Sr. and William Fitze.
A special thank you to oncologist Dr. Lisa Mills and the entire team at Summit Health in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, for providing Mary with excellent care and support for many years. Please keep Mary in your prayers.
