Mary Teresa (Pitz) Glahn, age 98, of Ithaca NY, and formerly of Lancaster, PA and Lovelton, PA, passed quietly at home on November 9th 2024 with loved ones by her side. Mary Teresa, also known as "Tess" was born on January 26th, 1926 in Lancaster PA. She was the youngest child of the late George and Emma Pitz. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband Roger L. Glahn, her fur baby Mitzi, and her five siblings Francis, George, Norbert, Ruth and Rose. Tess is survived by her daughter Georgine Leachey of Kingston, PA; her son Roger Glahn of Lovelton, PA; and son Raymond Glahn of Ithaca, NY. She has seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In her lifespan, she lived through the Great Depression as a child, was part of the "Greatest Generation" of WWII working in factories to support the war effort. She saw our country experience the decades of events including the Korean War, Vietnam, the turmoil of the 60's, the Gulf War, the fall of the Twin Towers and aftermath. She always voted, worked the polls when she could, and was a devout member of the Catholic Church. She never used a computer, and briefly had a cell phone, which she threw in the trash. As a mother, homemaker and spouse, she did the ordinary things extraordinarily well. She was an avid reader in her senior years, spending her Saturday nights with Lawrence Welk and Sunday mornings with Jane Pauley. She leaves behind a string of broken hearts, Jack Lord (Hawaii Five-O) and her "Toms", Selleck and Brady. And let's not forget Fred Couples, her favorite golfer.
Memorial services will be announced and held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church 309 Siena Drive Ithaca, NY 14850.
