Mary Greig

Mary Greig, of Leroy Township, was called by her Lord and Savior on February 3, 2025 at the age of 93. Mary was born on December 27, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Leroy Township at the age of 13.
Mary's spirit was characterized by her vibrant smile and an open heart that embraced everyone she met.
Her tale of love began with her beloved husband, Jim Greig, a saga that flourished for 73 beautiful years. Their love bore fruit in their children: daughter Ann (the late Rich) Spuller and sons Roy (Julie) Greig and John (Kim) Greig. She cherished moments and created memories with her grandchildren Aimee Spuller, Matthew (Jenn) Greig, Eric (Laura) Greig, Justin Spuller, Daniel (Ellyn Mitchell) Greig, Nycholas (Stephanie) Greig, Ben (Jenna) Greig, and Zachary Greig; each of whom continued to weave the fabric of her legacy with her great-grandchildren – Amelia, Connor, Eleanor, Louisa, Lydia, Riley and Henry.
Mary's dedication to education and community resonated through her, as evidenced by her attendance at St. Paul's Lutheran School, Harvey High School, and some studies at Lakeland Community College. Her professional path was marked by her roles as a secretary, a realtor, and an appraiser for the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Her work ethic was both impeccable and inspiring.
An active member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Mary's interests reached beyond the walls of worship. She cultivated beauty in her garden and provided hospitality that was second to none. Mary lived by the notion that she never met a stranger, talking with everyone she encountered. She could never pass up a good bargain whether found at a garage sale, thrift shop, or estate sale.
Mary now joins in eternal peace her parents, John and Anna (nee Matyas) Poloha, and her brothers Steve, Vincent, John, and Joe.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077, with a one-hour visitation (10:00 a.m.) prior to the service.
