Mary Lynn Nuebel

Mary Lynn Nuebel, 59, of Iowa City, passed away on November 19, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.

Mary was born on February 14, 1966 in Waterloo, Iowa to Paul Ed and Rita Ann (Felder) Nuebel. She was raised in Dunkerton, Iowa and following graduation from Don Bosco High School in 1984, Mary attended Waldorf College before transferring to Luther College where she obtained her bachelor's degree. Mary taught school at the St. John's School of Religion in New Hampton. She later worked for the Upward Bound Program, Good Will Job Coach, and Arhaus of Iowa City before retiring in 2024.

Mary enjoyed music, especially playing the drums. She sang for many years in The Quire in Iowa City. She volunteered at the VA Medical Center and also donated her time at the Crisis Center in Iowa City.

Mary is survived by her seven siblings: Becky (John) Sweeney, Vince (Susie) Nuebel, Peg (Larry) Boren, Greg Nuebel, Joe (Teri) Nuebel, Paul (Lois) Nuebel and Lori Falk as well as many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two great nieces.

Per Mary's request, cremation has been accorded and a visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Dunkerton, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the St. Francis Barkley Township Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Community Crisis Center, Houses into Homes of Iowa City or the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center.
