Mary Anita Raburn, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on January 26, 2025, in Andrews, TX, at the age of 86. Born on December 4, 1938, in Stephenville, TX, to Marvin Carl and Mary Ola Kay, she lived a life characterized by her passion for education, art, and her unwavering faith.
Mary Anita's early years in Stephenville were the foundation of a life steeped in learning and creativity. After graduating from Texas Tech, she began her career in education, teaching home economics. Her quest for knowledge led her to Alpine, where she obtained her Master's degree in Art, a subject that deeply resonated with her spirit and zest for life.
Making Andrews her permanent residence, Mary Anita continued to inspire young minds as a teacher. Her love for art was not confined to the classroom; she was a prolific creator, finding joy in sewing, making stained glass, and painting. Her artistic talents were a source of delight and wonder to all who knew her, and her homemade birthday cards were treasures that many cherished.
Mary Anita's commitment to her community was evident through her active involvement in the First Baptist Church. She served with grace and dedication, teaching Sunday school at several locations, and sharing her faith and wisdom generously.
Predeceased by her beloved parents, Marvin Carl and Mary Ola Kay, and her husband, Ollie (O.B.) Raburn, Mary Anita's legacy of love and kindness continues through her devoted family. She is survived by her sister Linda Clark and her husband Jimmy of Gordon, TX; her nephew Jimmy Jay Clark, his wife Angie, and their children, Jaylee and Haley of Denton, TX; her nieces Kasi Kay Redfearn, her husband Daren, and their children Shelbi and Kelsi of Lincoln, NE, and Kylynn Haggard and her children Zack and Logan of Dublin, TX. Each of them will carry forward the light of her spirit in their lives.
Mary Anita's life was a testament to the beauty of giving and the enduring power of education. Her warmth and compassion touched the lives of many, and her memory will be held in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Visitation where family will gather to receive friends will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 6:00PM-8:00PM, at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, TX. A Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be Friday, January 31, 2025, at 10:00AM at First Baptist Church in Andrews, TX. Interment will follow immediately at the North Cemetery in Andrews, TX.
