Mary Alice was born on November 27, 1928, in Peoria, Il, to Charles and Magdalen (Charvat) Hellstern. She married Richard W. Roberts on June 14, 1952, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Regina and Henry Humkey and her sister, Frances Pilon.
Surviving are her children, Dave of West Peoria, Ben of Bartonville, Barb (Steve) Carlson of Peoria and Phillip (Nancy) of East Peoria. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Eric (Nicole) Roberts, Shannon (Dustin) Nichols, Michelle (Jeremy) Hayes, Courtney (Danny) Spears and Alex (Amelia) Roberts; along with eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mary worked in the lunch room at St. Mark School for many years. She was a member of St. Mark Parish and its Legion of Mary Auxiliary, St. Therese Vocation Society, OSF St. Francis Auxiliary and Catholic Women's League.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. at St. Mark Church in Peoria on Friday, November 21, 2025, with Fr. Robert Lampitt officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:15 A.M. Friday, prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Peoria.
Mary's family would like to thank the staff of Buehler Home for their loving care of their mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Church or St. Jude’s Runners Association. Mary would also appreciate Masses requested in her name. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Mary Alice Roberts, please visit our floral store.
