MARY LOU SHELNUTT
Mary Lou Shelnutt, 102, Sturgeon, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the Lodge in Fayette, MO. She was born November 17, 1922, in Harrisburg, MO the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Evans) Porter. On July 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to Henry “Hobart” Shelnutt who preceded her in death on October 3, 1970.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter Betty McKenzie and her husband Larry of Clark, MO; five grandchildren Janet White, Grant Shelnutt and Sarah, Shelly Hadel and Joe, Julie Cummings and Tim and John McKenzie and Megan; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, one son Gerald “Jerry” Shelnutt, three brothers, four sisters and a daughter in law preceded her in death.
Mary Lou worked as an underwriting assistant for Shelter Insurance for many years. She was a member of Perche Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and a member of the Sturgeon Democrat Club. She was active in the Centralia Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards, Cardinals Baseball, birds, embroidery and loved to take walks.
Funeral services will be 12:00 pm Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Perche Baptist Church near Clark, MO. Interment will be in the Perche Cemetery near Clark, MO. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Perche Baptist Church near Clark, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Perche Cemetery Association, c/o Oliver Funeral Home, P.O. Box 125, Centralia, MO 65240.
