Mary Wentland Skulski, 80, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at Treasure Coast Hospice House, surrounded by family, on August 30, 2025, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Born on April 26, 1945, in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, Mary grew up in a close-knit family and carried those values of love, loyalty, and care throughout her life. She spent many years in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, where she and her husband raised their family before retiring to Florida.
Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Mary O'Connor Wentland and Gerard Wentland. She graduated from Notre Dame Catholic Girls High School in Moylan, PA, where she developed lifelong friendships and a strong foundation of faith, and went on to dedicate more than 35 years of her career in various roles within Riddle Memorial Hospital, including Billing Office Manager, Emergency Department Registration Manager, and Outpatient Registration Manager. Known for her kindness, warmth, and infectious smile, she touched countless lives through her work and the lifelong friendships she formed.
Above all else, Mary's greatest joy was her family. She was the beloved wife of nearly 59 years to Joseph Skulski, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership. Together, they built a family that was the center of her world. Mary was a devoted mother to her daughter, Kathleen, and son, David (Kimberly), and a proud grandmother to Kyle, Molly, Joseph, Michael, Alison, Brendan, and Maura. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on, share her wisdom, or simply delight in their company. Mary is also survived by her sister, Kathryn Deering; brother, Joseph Wentland; brother-in-law, John Skulski (Kristine); brother-in-law, James Skulski (Ann); and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Gerard and John "Jack" Wentland.
In addition to her professional and family life, Mary embraced many hobbies and interests that brought her happiness and fulfillment. She had a love of crafting, especially cross-stitch and crochet, and her family treasures the many handmade gifts she lovingly created. She enjoyed card games with friends and family, cherished days at the beach, and loved to dance-bringing joy and energy wherever she went. Nothing gave her greater delight than spending time with her grandchildren and being surrounded by her loved ones, whether during holidays, family gatherings, or simple afternoons together.
Mary will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit. She had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and cared for, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.
