The groundwork for my friendship with Mary White began, indirectly with our grandmothers. They were neighbors on Hanson Ave. The Tanguay-Ryan association (the latter were my relatives) went on through three generations. By 1936 when Mary visited us in Maine, she and I were already close friends.
Mary Mulligan White became like the sister I never had. We shared each other's joys, worries and sorrows. We made many trips together -- to the British Isles, Florida, Canada and the West.
Mary was loyal, very intelligent, steadfast and highly motivated. She was a person who, when she saw a need, always tried to fill it, and usually did. I am deeply thankful for Mary White's presence in my life.

Dear Molly and Jim,
It is with mixed emotions that I say good-bye to your Mom. She had always been such a great presence in my life that I feel I've lost a "second mom" and am truly saddened. However, I am also happy for her. Mary is finally back in Dover and at peace. I know, in my heart, that Mary is now with her family in Heaven (and Heaven will never be the same!).
Living in her former home at Mt. Pleasant, I cannot help thinking of her daily. I will try to keep her flowers growing and will be forever thankful to her for allowing me to care for a place she loved so much and will always be a part of. Love you both---Kathleen.

Mary was a wonderful lady. I had known her for over 25 years and had the opportunity about 5 years ago to take a group of teachers to New Hampshire. We made it a point to have lunch with her in Dover. Everyone knew her. From Danny, Jorge and me I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Molly and her brother.

Molly and Jim,
We wanted to let you know we are thinking of you both at this time of your loss. We'll miss Mary. She was a strong person and we have lots of fond memories of her. We think of her often, especially when we see her flowers gardens, the braided rugs, the pillow and mittens she made us. She'll forever be in our hearts.
Love from Mt. Pleasant,
Charleen and Bill

Molly and Jim,
It's with great sadness that I say goodbye to Mary...She was such a presence in my life; from growing up on Mt. Pleasant with all those childhood memories, to living at her home on South Pine Street and sharing many laughs and tears, as well as her love and wisdom. Mary will be missed. Now it's time to say goodbye as she moves through her final journey.
I love you both always, Maureen

Wish I could have said good-bye once more. "Mary A." (as most of us, her great-nieces and nephews, called her)will always be remembered. She was another part of what makes the Mulligan crew so unique. I think I may have inherited some of the genes Mary A. carried with her, whether they're good or bad doesn't matter, I'm proud that I got them. - Seth

I only met Mrs. White once, but I can say that she was a great woman. How do I know this you may ask, because I know her daugther Molly. Mrs. White must have been a very proud mother because Molly is a great human being. I never got the chance to express my feelings about Molly to Mrs. White, I know now that she knows how much I love Molly. Mrs. White you can rest easy I will love and care for your daugther until you both meet again.
