Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sullivan Funeral Home - Hanover on Jan. 12, 2024.
In loving memory of MaryAnne Merullo, aged 79, who passed away early Wednesday morning, January 10, 2024. MaryAnne was born on March 9, 1944, in Boston and lived a rewarding life, moving to a variety of towns on the South Shore with Rockland being her last home. Dedicated wife, adoring sister, loving mother, kindhearted mother-in-law, fun-loving grandmother, and loyal friend, she was a light in anyone's world who had the privilege of meeting, knowing, and loving her.
In her younger years, she graduated from Scituate High School in 1962 and won numerous awards for swimming which remained a passion for her in her later years. She went on to earn a degree in Home Economics from Framingham State College in 1967 as well as a Master's Degree in Early Education. A strong advocate of education, she worked as a home economics teacher and also as an educator at a local Christian school. Dedicated to supporting her family and fiercely independent, she opened her own alteration business and ran a sewing school in the basement of her home.
With a sound faith in God and a belief that everything in life should be done with love, she raised a wonderful family and lived a full life. With two boys to raise, she was a proud hockey Mom and remained committed to never putting anything before them. An avid gardener, her house was always filled with plants. She loved to cook and was well-known for her ravioli making. Some of her other passions included knitting, reading, doing puzzles, staying healthy by walking on the treadmill, and getting her nails done. Many times, she would babysit her grandchildren just to get her time with them and when they were younger, she took them on adventures such as the Blue HillsTrailside Museum.
One of her favorite pastimes was dancing and many times, she would go with friends to Moseley's. It was here that she met her husband, Joseph Merullo, with whom she spent eleven wonderful years. They spent their time watching old Westerns in the afternoons, rewatching musicals such as "The King and I" or "The Sound of Music", and were loyal Patriots fans. They loved going for breakfast together, playing pool at the clubhouse, and taking cruises to warm places.
MaryAnne is predeceased by her mother, Alice Megna and her father, Sam Megna. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Merullo, as well as her two brothers, James and Anthony Megna and her two sisters and their husbands, Frannie and Ron Trott, and Camille and Darrell Hendsbee. She will be deeply missed by her two sons and their wives, Michael and Jodi Teebagy and Stephen and Mary Beth Teebagy and her grandchildren, Nicole and Aaron Perlroth, John Teebagy, Isabella Teebagy, and Gabriella Teebagy. She is also survived by Joseph's three sons, John, Joseph, Jimmy, and their wives and families.
