PRINCETON – Matilda Ann "Tillie" Whitlow, 83, of Princeton, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully Tuesday morning, May 9, 2023 at her residence. Born October 9, 1939 in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Roy L. Saunders, Sr. and Hazel M. Testerman Saunders.
Tillie was a graduate of Princeton High School class of 1957. She was a very devoted Christian who loved and cherished her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved music and used her talent to play the piano and organ for her church for many years. She also worked at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home where she played the organ and greeted families for 40 years.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years, Wayne Whitlow; two daughters, Cynthia Whitlow of Princeton and fiancé Scott Trainum of Hinton and Lisa Sexton and husband David of Princeton; five grandchildren, Aaron Thompson and wife Cara of Brentwood, TN, Amy Thomas and husband Danny of Princeton, Matthew Thompson and wife Kerri of Oakridge, TN, Jackie Alvis and husband Travis of Princeton and Logan Moore of Tazewell, VA; three great grandchildren, Nico Thompson of Brentwood, TN, Aubree Thomas of Princeton and Luke Thompson of Oakridge, TN; one sister, Sonja White of Princeton; one brother, Butch Saunders and wife Jeanie of Princeton; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Larry Dyer and Rev. Blake Bivens officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Travis B. Alvis, Joshua Bishop, David Sexton, Danny Thomas, Scott Trainum and Kenneth Whitlow.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 12, 2023 from noon until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.bailey-kirk.com.
