Matt, age 35, of Mankato was surrounded by his family when he passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester due to complications of liver disease.
Matthew Scott Michaletz was born March 3, 1988, in Mankato to Scott and Gail (Angulski) Michaletz. Matt graduated with honors from Loyola High School and St. John’s University, Collegeville. Throughout his career, he was an accomplished insurance agent and a Kato Insurance Agency partner, contributing significantly to its growth and success. He was awarded several business achievement awards and was highly respected by his clients and co-workers.
Throughout the years, Matt enjoyed foreign and US travel, especially his numerous visits to Alaska. Outdoor activities were a passion, including fishing and hunting with family and friends, especially with his college buddies and at 7-Buck Ranch in North Dakota. Matt will be remembered for his quick wit and ability to tell a good joke. He will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his parents, Scott and Gail Michaletz of North Mankato; brother, Jon and wife, Terri Michaletz of North Mankato; sister, Laura and husband, Derek Tess of De Pere, Wisconsin; nieces and nephew, Adisyn, Whitney, and Natalie Michaletz, Kennedy and James Tess; half-sisters, Sarah Michaletz and husband, Byron Franklin of Renton, Washington, Molly Inglemon of Orlando, Florida and her family, Allegra, Michael, and Cahlea; grandmother, Lois Angulski of Avon, Minnesota; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gerald and Faye Michaletz and Chester Angulski and uncles, Cass Michaletz and Stephen Onody.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health System or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
