Matthew “Matt” Brown, age 21, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after an automobile accident in Sugar Creek, MO on Friday, June 27th, 2025. Also injured in the accident was the love of his life, Hannah Dahlberg who is recovering at home. Matthew was born March 16, 2004 in West Plains, MO to Steven and Kristine Brown. He graduated from Liberty North High School in 2022 and was attending Maple Woods Community College working on a degree in Software Development.
Matthew had a pure heart and a beautiful soul and would light up a room when he walked in the door. He had an infectious laugh with a sense of humor to match, and he didn’t know a stranger. To know Matthew was to love him. He was the most content baby who never cried, had the orneriest grin, and would put himself to bed. He was an easy-going child who idolized his big brother, Tyler, and was so excited when he finally got to go to school like his ‘brover’. He was an outgoing, sociable young teen who was friends with everybody, and it was not unusual for him to invite a dozen boys over to the house to hang out, which meant pizza party and movie night. When he got older these gatherings turned into Chiefs games, or poker night. His friends describe him as “a light in all of our lives. An honest, bright, loving man that will always be loved and cherished.”
Matthew was a talented musician which started with the saxophone and then turned into teaching himself how to play guitar, drums, and keyboard. He was an avid car enthusiast, Lego engineer, and would spend all hours of the night playing video games with his friends. He enjoyed cooking (which usually involved mom having to clean up his mess), but his food was always delicious, and she didn’t mind! He had a passion for photography, especially taking pictures of nature and cars, and you most often would find him outdoors fishing and disc golfing. Above all else he cherished spending time with his beautiful Hannah whom he loved unconditionally.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bob and Sue Brown and aunt Jeni Albright.
Matthew is lovingly remembered by his parents Steven and Kristine Brown, brother Tyler Brown, grandparents Scott and Debbie Brown, aunts and uncles Pam and Dick McMurry; Susan and Richard Long; Daniel and Barbara Brown; Alisa and Kim Wyer; Rex Albright, countless cousins whom he had a special bond with, friends, and his puppy Millie.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 1600 Rte 291 Hwy, Liberty, Missouri, 64068 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 p.m. All are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Matthew’s life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KC Pet Project of Kansas City in memory of Matthew Brown.
