Matthew J. Casper, age 35, our most beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 18, 2023, with his family by his side.
Born on January 21, 1988, Matt dedicated his life to spreading positivity and happiness. The son of Ron and Barb (Van Gheluwe) Casper, he graduated from John Glenn High School with the class of 2006. Matt's infectious smile and expansive heart touched everyone he encountered, making him the kindest, friendliest, and most likable person you would ever meet.
Matt found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly riding his bicycle through city streets and scenic trails. His break-dancing moves, quick-witted jokes, and love for playing video games with friends showcased his vibrant and playful spirit. Matt's furry companion, Rylee, was a source of comfort and joy.
For the past 8 years, Matt served as a manager in the building department at Menards, where he became a familiar face, offering friendly smiles and conversations to all. Always reliable, whether for a ride, assistance with a project, or just a companion to hang out with, Matt was a constant presence in the lives of those who knew him.
Matt is survived by his father, Ron Casper; mother, Barb Casper; and brother, Michael (Sarah) Casper. Additionally, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, and loving cousins.
The Funeral Service for Matthew will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 7:00 PM at Squires Funeral Home, 211 N. Henry Street, Bay City, Michigan 48706. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM.
