Matt Crawford was a model officer and LEADER. Hilarious, tough, authentic, wicked smart, and thoughtful-I, like so many others, was privileged to serve with him. His legacy in the Army endures.

A phenomenal Troop Commander and leader, and someone I looked up to as a peer. Rest in peace Matthew and continued prayers for Nan, Reagan and Jack during this difficult time.

Matt was a great guy - a professional officer and a good friend. So glad I had the chance to serve with him . Heartbroken for his lovely family. We won't ever forget you

COL Crawford was the leader I needed. I was disillusioned and fed up with the Army, feeling like it had nothing left to offer me. His daily interactions and leadership gave me faith in military service again. I would not be where I am in my career without him. Thank you, sir!

I had Matt as a student at Blackhawk. He was an excellent student and super young man. Enjoyable to talk to as a teenager in class.

Matt Crawford was one of the greatest leaders and Soldiers that I ever had the privilege to serve alongside in the 502nd Infantry Regiment. His love of the 502nd was deep, but not nearly as deep as his love for Nan, Reagan and Jack. All of us are so much better people for knowing Matt and his family. Rest in Peace friend. Strike!
