Matthew Edward Durnford, age 27, entered eternal rest in Thornton CO, June 3,2024. He was a graduate of Holy Family High School, Broomfield Co and received a scholarship to attend Benedictine College, Atchison KS.
Matt pursued many interests and excelled at everything he did. Sports were an integral part of his life growing up, playing football, basketball and baseball. He was a great teammate and encouraged others to join him in his endeavors. He enjoyed travelling and experienced joy in the many places that he visited throughout the world. Matt also enjoyed the great outdoors where he liked to hunt, fish, hike and camp. He had many plans for future adventures in Colorado. He had many pets over his life and enjoyed his time with them showing great care and compassion towards all creatures.
Matt was passionate about our country and was very patriotic. He supported our second amendment through his efforts and work. Matt was employed at Mile High Shooting and Accessories. He found fulfillment in his work and was regularly promoted to positions of greater responsibility. He was an avid shooter and excelled in competitive events.
Matt is survived by his parents, Cindy & Ed Durnford and one brother Michael. His grandparents, Edie Durnford-Oliver, Kent and Doris Gaibler. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins. He is the uncle to Jeremiah and Luke Durnford. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Diane Durnford and grand-father Jerry Durnford.
Services will be held at 11am, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Northglenn CO on Monday June 10, 2024. Reception will follow immediately with internment at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Wheatridge CO.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in his name to Holy Family HS or Benedictine College or the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF)
