Today, the world lost a bright light in Matthew Ryan Huffines. Matthew (age 33) was born on October 21, 1990, in Port St. Lucie, FL to Susan Huffines and Wayne Huffines.
Matthew graduated from Port St. Lucie High School and was currently attending the PGA program. His career in golf started at Sailfish Point Golf Club as a cart and bag boy, and that led him to the opportunity to work in NY at East Hampton Golf and Country Club and Sunningdale Golf Course as an Assistant Pro. He then returned to Florida and was an Assistant at Willoughby Golf and Country Club before taking a job at Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club as an Assistant Pro.
Matthew's hobbies included golf, gaming, music, playing pool and hanging out with his friends. Matt grew up around sports, especially football. The Miami Hurricanes was not only his favorite team but a large part of who Matt was; win or lose Matt never missed a game. He lit up any room he walked into; his smile was contagious. His family was the most important, as his parents are his best friends. He was a selfless and loyal friend. Matt loved wide open, and everyone loved Matt. He was never afraid to be himself whether he broke out in song or told jokes, Matt was unapologetically himself. He loves his pups Boomer and Brandi very much who miss him dearly. Matt was always ready for adventure and loved trying new things.
Matthew is survived by his father Wayne Huffines, his mother Susan Huffines, and his brother Chris Neal of Port St. Lucie, FL; Uncle Kurt Stickler of Carmel, IN; Uncle Jeff Stickler of Carmel, IN; Uncle Charles Huffines of Santa Maria, CA; Aunt Karen Brooks of Mokena, IL; dogs Boomer and Brandi; and many other extended family members who will miss him terribly.
Matthew's celebration of life will be held at Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club on December 2, 2023 at 1pm.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Lawnwood Regional Hospital, especially Matthew's primary nurse Amanda and the University of Miami's advocate Laz for all the support they gave his family during this time.
Matthew's selflessness continues as he gifted his liver, kidneys, and tissue to those in need.
Words cannot express how much we will miss Matthew's kind hearted spirit, warm smile, contagious laugh, incredible talent on the golf course or even just being there for you no matter what you needed him for - even if it just meant being there as your biggest fan while you did something you were passionate about or going out of his way to make sure everyone around him felt included no matter what they were doing - he just wanted everyone around him to have fun - even if it meant being silly!
He may be gone but will never be forgotten! We love you always!
In Lieu of flowers, Matt's family asks that you donate in Matt's honor to a no kill animal shelter near you.

Matt was an extraordinary young man who was very positive and loved people. I was fortunate to know Matt when I was a member at Willoughby. Matt always had an infectious smile, and I enjoyed all of my time spent with him. I am devastated to learn of his passing. My sincerest condolences to his family, you raised a great young man and Matt will be missed by everyone.
