Matthew Britt Lewis, passed away on May 20, 2024, in Shreveport, LA, due to cardiac arrest. Born on January 22, 1968, in Sherman, TX, Matthew's zest for life and creative spirit touched all who knew him. He was a man of intelligence, adventure, and creativity. Matthew's early life in Marshall, TX was marked by his involvement in the Big Red Pride marching band at Marshall High School, where he graduated in 1986. Following high school, Matthew dedicated himself to his country by serving in the United States Air Force. His time spent in Germany as a cryptologic language analyst was a testament to his intelligence and adventurous spirit. Matthew's military service was a significant chapter in his life, shaping him into the worldly individual so many admired. As an avid fisherman, he found solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. His passion for fishing was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his love for life's simple pleasures and his ability to find peace in the stillness of the water. Matthew's friends and family often joked that there wasn't a body of water he hadn't cast a line into, a testament to his adventurous nature. Beyond his love for the outdoors, Matthew was a gifted artist. His talent spanned multiple mediums, and he had an exceptional ability to capture beauty in every piece he created. His artwork was not just a personal sanctuary but also a source of joy for others, as he generously gifted his creations to those he loved. Matthew's character was a blend of his passions and his relationships. He is survived by a loving family: his parents, George and Linda Lewis; his siblings, LeAnn Beavers, Amy Miller, and Lee Lewis; his nieces and nephews, Bryanne and John Hayden Beavers, George Lewis V, Olivia Lewis, Evan and Drew Miller; his aunt, Sue Wormington; his cousin, Wade Lewis, Jr.; his sister-in-law, Melisa Lewis; and his brothers-in-law, Bryan Beavers and Brandy Miller. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George Lewis II and Louise Lewis, his maternal grandmother, Joyce Page, and his uncle, Wade Lewis. Matthew's life was a portrait of a man who embraced every moment with passion. His adventurous spirit was evident in his love for travel and exploration, and his creativity was displayed in his artistic endeavors. As we say goodbye to Matthew Britt Lewis, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. His legacy is not only in the memories he leaves behind but also in the lives he touched with his daring spirit and his boundless creativity. Matthew's journey through life was as vibrant and dynamic as the man himself, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In honor of Matthew, the family encourages a donation to any cause that is dedicated to the awareness, assistance, and treatment to those suffering from mental illness. Always remember to show compassion, unconditional love, and understanding to those who may be afflicted with such.
If I Had a Voice - Caroline Wilkes
"If I had a voice now it would be loving And I would say thank you for all of your care. If I had a voice now I'd want to tell you I'm sorry for not always wanting to be there. My life, it confused you, it did so to me. But I am released now and my heart is free. The heart that was hidden beneath all the pain, it felt so much more than I could explain. And if I had a voice now, I'd say out loud I love you, I wish that I'd made that clear. And in my lifetime I need you to know that I was much more than I did appear. These are things that I'd say through choice... if I had a chance and if I had a voice."

The Matthew Complex

Matthew was a special tender man
Born with a purpose like all of us by God´s plan
He presented when no other child
Would grace the womb for a while

His parents were both loving and giving
As Matthew pursued the military for a living
The challenges and achievements were many
I would not trade them for a penny

Parentages should never have to inter their progenies
The chances are usually the reverse posterities
But from personal experience, we can relate
To such an untimely crushing fate

As we remember the life of this gentleman
In the best way that we can
Like the little engine that always tried
We dry our waterworks from our tear- filled eyes
