Matthew Linder

Matthew A. Linder, known affectionately as Matt to his friends and family, passed away peacefully in Morris. Born on January 31, 1986, in Clinton, Iowa, to Ricky and Debra (Smith) Linder. Matt attended Morris High School, where he formed lasting friendships. His life was enriched with the birth of his daughters, Layla, Aleah, and Xyla. Professionally, Matt was a valued employee at Costco in Morris. Matt is survived by his loving mother, Debra; his devoted siblings, Bobbi (Aaron) Arias, Don (Lois) Linder, Steve (Rachelle) Linder, Eric (Ashley) Linder, and Nicole (Brandon) Kindelspire. He is also survived by his grandmother Georgia Null, along with aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ricky, with whom he now shares a heavenly reunion.
Matthew was a blaze of life, once burning with a love for music that filled rooms with joy. His quick wit could spark laughter or ignite a heated debate, his hot temper as fierce as his fearless spirit. To strangers, he was a friend; to family, a cherished son, brother, nephew, father, and uncle. Reckless at times, but always alive with passion. Addiction stole his way, dimming the vibrancy that defined him. Yet, in our hearts, his melody lingers-a life cut too short, but never forgotten.
One of Matt's most admirable qualities was his selflessness, which shone brightly through his decision to become an organ donor. In his passing, he was able to fulfill his wish to give the gift of life to others, thereby changing the lives of several families. Matt's legacy lives on not only in the memories he leaves behind but also through this final act of kindness, which epitomizes the depth of his generosity.
A celebration of Matt's life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Lions Park in Morris at 598 Michael Drive from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
