"Life's Hard, you just have to be Tougher than it"
Something Matt reminded us of regularly.
Matt Litman passed away on August 31, 2022. At the young age of 29. His life was shorter than most, but he accomplished more than most. He was a Husband to Stephanie, Father to Levi and Wyatt, built his dream home, and had the career he's always wanted. He was an honest man, a hardworking man, and a loving son & brother, proud husband & father and a loyal friend.
He enjoyed eight beautiful years with Stephanie, they had a marriage that most would dream of and many admired.
Matt was born on March 3, 1993 in Arlington Heights, Illinois, but grew up in Plainfield, Illinois, where he lived with his Loving Parents, Jeff and Heidi and Brother, Steven. He was the friend that everyone turned to for advice and support.
He moved to Tempe, Arizona in 2013 to attend Arizona State University. Matt met Stephanie in August 2014 when he was signing his lease at the apartment complex she worked at. The rest was history. They were living together within three short months, they adopted sweet Miss Roo in February 2015, and he popped the question after 8 months of dating in May 2015, naturally she said yes! Some say they moved fast, but they knew they were soulmates and were meant to be together.
2016 was a busy year, Matt and Stephanie both attended ASU, however Matt left ASU when he was accepted into the NARTA Police Academy (Class 41), to pursue his dream of being a Police Officer. Stephanie graduated college in May 2016, while Matt attended the academy two hours away, in Prescott, Arizona. Matt and Stephanie got hitched on October 15, 2016 and two short months later, Matt graduated the Police Academy in December 2016.
They moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in October 2016 where Matt was a Patrol Officer for Flagstaff PD and met lifelong friends. He was often the one organizing the get together's and reciting the most ridiculously inappropriate toasts, if you know, YOU KNOW.
Matt and Stephanie welcomed a sweet baby boy in January 2018 and shortly after they decided to relocate to Phoenix, Arizona to be closer to family. Matt lateraled over to Phoenix PD in May 2019. They welcomed their second son in April 2020. Matt worked through the pandemic and was a dedicated Police Officer. He was a cop's cop, if there ever was such a thing. The only thing he loved being more than being a Police Officer, was being a husband and a father. Being a father was his biggest pride and joy. He loves those boys beyond measures.
He was an old soul with a gentle heart. A prankster at his finest, and his favorite place was in the kitchen or in front of the grill. No one's cooking could ever live up to "Martha's" cooking. And if you don't know who "Martha" is, that's Matt's alter ego when cooking. You were lucky if you were close enough to Matt, to get to know "Martha"!
In his spare time, he loved rooting for the Chicago Bears, even though it's hard to be a Bears fan, he was devoted! Twerking, again, if you know, you know! Matt had the moves and loved to show them off! He was constantly the life of the party and would light up any room he walked into. He enjoyed driveway bonfires and BBQ's with friends & family, camping outside while sleeping under the stars and fishing in any lake or river he could find, and spending the days lovin' on his wife and boys.
His memory will live on in our hearts for a lifetime and his memories will be passed down to generations forever after.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Litman, his two sons, Levi and Wyatt Litman, his parents, Jeff and Heidi Litman, and his brother, Steven Litman.
We LOVE YOU #MiracleMatt

We will always cherish the times that we had on Ambrose rd laughing as the boys got together from sun up to sun down going from pool to pool , playing baseball and football tearing up our lawns. One of the things that will always stick in my mind is no matter how old the little guys got Matt was always the tallest one and little mr Steve was was always hanging in there with big brother, Mitch and Raymond . Our whole family was always in agreement that the time we were neighbors in plainfield were always the really good times watching those boys just enjoy being friends. Our whole family mourns with yours and we will not ever forget Matt or what his friendship and your families friendship meant to us.
