Matt VanderLaan passed away on February 11, 2025, at the age of 46 after an arduous struggle with health issues. Beloved son of Mark and Barbara VanderLaan, loving brother of Aaron and sister-in-law Allison, and proud uncle of Aidan VanderLaan.
Matt was someone who made friends readily and was generous and kind to all he encountered. Born in Cincinnati, he attended The Seven Hills School until his transfer to St. Paul's Academy in Phoenix where he graduated. He received his college degree in business administration from Belmont University in Nashville.
During his teen years, Matt was a gifted athlete, excelling in soccer and baseball. He had worked years in the hospitality field and was an avid and competitive barbeque aficionado.
Matt loved his three incorrigible dogs and enjoyed fishing. Matt would be very proud that his post-mortem donation through Network for Hope will help others see, recover more comfortably from cancer, and assist them in spinal fusions and hip replacements. Perhaps from 75 to 100 people will benefit in some way from this generosity.
A memorial service will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., February 17th, at the Indian Hill Episcopal Presbyterian Church, 6000 Drake Rd., Indian Hill. Memorials can be made to The Seven Hills School or Indian Hill Episcopal Presbyterian Church.
