Matthew Allen Vanscoy

Matthew Allen Vanscoy, 55, of Broken Arrow, OK was born December 4, 1968 to Dennis Harmon and Wanda Aline (Notley) Vanscoy in Tulsa, OK and passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 in Broken Arrow, OK with his family by his bedside.
Matt graduated from Porter High School and furthered his education at Connors and Oklahoma State University. He was an active member of the FFA throughout high school. Matt loved sports, especially soccer and football, so much so, he was the manager of the uniforms and equipment for both the football and soccer teams during high school. Matt spent five years in plumbing school and served his apprenticeship before beginning his career as a pipefitter working for Integrity Mechanical before retiring in 2023. He was a member of the United Association BTJ Pipefitter Local Union 430 and the First Baptist Church in Porter, OK. Matt met and married the love of his life Malessa Clark on April 10, 2024 in Broken Arrow, OK. In his later years, you could find Matt watching the Oklahoma State Cowboys play and was also a huge fan of the Seattle Seahawks. He also loved the Netherlands soccer team. Matt enjoyed traveling and fishing before being diagnosed with ALS. He loved to watch television and play his casino video games. His greatest joy was just being at home and spending all his time making as many memories as possible with his wife and family. Matt will be dearly missed.
Matt is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Harmon Vanscoy.
Those left to cherish Matt's memory are his wife, Malessa Jo Vanscoy of the home; mother, Wanda Aline Vanscoy of Wagoner, OK; sister, Michelle Dennise (Vanscoy) Bowen of Wichita, KS; brothers, Doug Vanscoy and wife Lori of Bixby, OK, and Jeffrey Dennis Vanscoy of Greenville, AR; daughters, Kortney (Vanscoy) McBride and husband Billy of Muskogee, OK, and Kari Diana Gibson; son, Brandon Wade Vanscoy of Wagoner, OK; uncle, Don Breshears and wife Janice of Bentonville, AR; numerous cousins; ten nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren; extended family; and many friends.
A viewing will be held from 1PM-7PM, Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with family greeting friends from 5PM-7PM.
A celebration of Matt's life will be 10AM, Friday, September 6, 2024 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Gibson with Brother Justin Kinman officiating. Doug Vanscoy, Branden Vanscoy, Benjamin McBride, David Pittser, Joe Rose, and J.R. Myers will be serving as casket bearers. Lexi Sides, Michael Vanscoy, and Steve Vanscoy will be serving as honorary casket bearers. Committal prayers and interment will follow at 2PM at Spring Creek Cemetery in Springdale, AR.
