Mattie Helen Richardson, 72, passed away on February 11, 2025 in Kansas City, Ks. She was born on July 2, 1952 to Paul Frederick Richardson, Jr. and Lena LaVerne Holmes Richardson.
Mattie grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Sumner High School where she was a member of the band, orchestra, national honor society and received a scholarship in liberal arts. Mattie was also voted the most popular girl in her class.
Mattie was baptized by Rev. David Gray, Pleasant Green Baptist Church.
At age 17 Mattie worked at 1st National Bank, Federal Reserve Bank and Proctor and Gamble.
Mattie married her childhood sweetheart Calvin Jones, Sr. To this union two children were born, Calvin Jones, Jr. 7/3/72 and Demont Jones 11/8/77.
Mattie moved to Ocean City, California to join Calvin Jones, Sr. who was in the Marines, where she worked at Bank of America at Camp Pendleton, CA.
In 1977 Mattie was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and transferred to KCMO where she was a Bulk Mail Supervisor. She retired in 1988 on medical disability. She remarried Raul Madrazo in August 1991 and they were married for six years.
In 2000 Mattie worked as a part time security monitor for the Housing Authority and retired in 2014.
Mattie married Tyrone Sherman 11/20/2001. He was her devoted husband and care provider.
Mattie Loved animals. Her dog Tina was 16yrs old when she passed away. Mr. T and Tuddi were also her beloved dogs.
Mattie Loved her family and friends. Her house was always crowded with family and friends cooking, playing pool, ping-pong, board games, good music and movie watching. No one was a stranger. Everyone gravitated to Mattie and loved her dearly.
She leaves to cherish her memory devoted and beloved husband Tyrone Sherman, Sons Calvin Jones, Jr. and Demont Jones beloved sister Paula Richardson Ivy, grandchildren Symphony, Shiloh and Samir and many, many dear relatives and friends.
