Maury Yussman Obituary

Maury A. Yussman, a beloved community member and entrepreneur, passed away on April 7, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on February 21, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the cherished son of Stanford G. and Raye Yussman. Maury was a proud graduate of Waggener High School and pursued further education at the University of Louisville, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees. His love for his alma mater, University of Kentucky basketball and commitment to his community never wavered throughout his life. For over 25 years, Maury owned and operated Maury's Lawn Care, building a reputation for excellence and dedication. An active individual, Maury found joy in a variety of pursuits. He was a member of Rauch AZA and participated in various sports as a boy, which developed into a lifelong passion. He was an avid softball and basketball player, coach and umpire, sharing his love of the games with others. After graduating from U of L, he moved to Ohio, where he managed the JCC Health and Fitness Department, continuing his commitment to the well-being of both young and old. He was known for his leadership and mentorship. Maury leaves behind a legacy of hard work, community involvement, and an unwavering dedication to nurturing the potential in others. He is fondly remembered by his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.
Maury is survived by his son, David; his brothers Harris (Andrea), Steven Michael, and Jeff (ZoeAnn); and David's mom, Susie Kersey; and David's aunt, Nina Yussman; and David's grandfather, Don Stern.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Anshei Sfard Cemetery for close friends and family. A visitation will take place on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., allowing friends and family to visit with his family at Keneseth Israel Congregation, 2531 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40205. (On Zoom : tinyurl.com/KICZoom ) In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor's preferred charity.

Im so sorry to hear of Maury´s passing. I was blessed to call him a friend. We worked together at HomeDepot then I worked with him mowing and snow plowing. I have some great memories of him. He had a huge heart. Truly a good guy. RIP my friend. Love ya.

So sorry to hear. Maury was on my Staff at the JCC when I first moved to Louisville 45 years ago. I always found him to be kind, caring and hard-working, and I never heard anyone say a bad word about him. Rest in Peace, Maury.
