Maxine L. Paulhamus Ordway
Sayre, PA
Went to be with Jesus on Friday evening, August 8, 2025 at the age of 93. She was born on January 18, 1932 in Shamokin Dam, PA daughter to the late Charles and Catherine Hakes Paulhamus.
She is also predeceased by her husband of 48 years, L. Dale Ordway in 1998; son, Lance Ordway; daughter, Jan Chase Ettenberger; brother, Robert Paulhamus.
Maxine is survived by her children, Mark (Helen) Ordway, Scott (Kathy) Ordway, Joy (Mark) Waters, Brent (Debora) Ordway; 22 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, LuAn Paulhamus; and extended family members and friends.
Maxine grew up in Shamokin Dam, Pennsylvania and later moved to Post Creek, NY. She graduated from Arnot Ogden as a Registered Nurse. Her nursing career was in doctors offices and at St. Joe's and Arnot Hospital, She retired from the Elmira Correctional Facility in Elmira, NY after many years. She was actively involved in churches with music and teaching classes. Her home was overflowing with neighborhood and church youth throughout the years. She overcame her fear of deep water by taking scuba classes. She wrote children's books, a music cantata and other songs that were performed publicly. Maxine was also a chalk artist, worked in real estate, became a landlord of multiple homes, owned her own gift shop, rode her own motorcycle and was always up for a good motorcycle ride. She taught her family to live life fully, laugh a lot, Love Jesus, work hard and save and spend money wisely. Mom simply loved people.
Most of all, Maxine will always be remembered as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and loyal friend to many.
Services will be announced upon completion.
