It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maya Gentry, who left us on July 30, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. Maya, aged 74, was surrounded by loved ones in her home in Farmington, Utah at the time of her passing.

Born on November 11, 1949, in Tucson, Arizona, Maya was the cherished daughter of Lloyd John Webb and Carma Crowther. She grew up with a spirit as vast and warm as the desert landscape of her birthplace.

On September 4, 1968, Maya married Geoff Jasmer, and built a beautiful family, raising six children: Krista, Jennie, Shelby, Heidi, Dustin, and Summer. They later divorced.

Maya’s academic pursuits led her to earn a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and later a Master’s degree in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. Her career in social work was a testament to her unyielding dedication to helping others, including inmates and those with addictions.

Maya was a woman of many wonderful traits. She was known for her kindness, unselfish nature, and driven personality. Her beauty shone both inside and out, complemented by her artistic talents and musical skills. Maya was a pianist, singer, and someone who appreciated the metaphysical aspects of life. She embraced a spiritual path that was open-minded, inclusive, and forward-thinking.

Her hobbies reflected her zest for life and commitment to well-being. Maya enjoyed writing, reading, practicing yoga, exercising, singing, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. She was not only a pillar of strength for her family but also a source of inspiration for her friends and community.

Maya is survived by her beloved children: Krista (Jen Golembeski) Jasmer, Jennie (Matt) Graham, Shelby Davis, Heidi (Ron) Alphin, Dustin (Mandy Westbroek) Jasmer, and Summer Jasmer. She is also survived by her siblings: Gary (Shelley) Webb, Sheldon (Pam) Webb, Doug (Suzanne) Webb, Terri (Mark) Lisonbee, Richard Webb, Kathy Penrod, and Laurie Hansen. She is also survived by her sweetheart Marty Kalmich. Additionally, she leaves behind 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Maya was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd John Webb and Carma Crowther, whose memories she cherished deeply.

Maya Gentry’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and a relentless pursuit of bettering the world around her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
