AHOSKIE, NC - McClary "Buddy" Hall, Jr., age 74, of Ahoskie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, NC.
Buddy was the oldest son born to the late McClary Hall, Sr. and Pearl Simmons Hall in Ahoskie, NC on August 28, 1949. He was one of nine children. He was a graduate of Robert Lee Vann High School and received his bachelor's degree from Elizabeth City State University majoring in history.
Buddy found joy and fulfillment in a variety of interests. He loved fishing, training horses, and playing chess. As the family historian, he cherished the stories of his ancestors and shared them with pride. Buddy was an avid sports enthusiast with a particular fondness for NASCAR, especially #19, Martin Truex, Jr., football, and basketball. Known for his great sense of humor and easygoing personality, he brightened many lives as a comedian and a beloved friend. His retreats to the mountains brought him peace and serenity. To know Buddy was to love him. Buddy's legacy of love, humor, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace.
Buddy is survived by his beloved siblings, Laverne Toliver of Ahoskie, Elsie Jean Powell of Ahoskie, Maxine Dowe of Springfield, VA, Portia D. Walls and husband George of Cary, Rickey D. Hall of Ahoskie, Terry J. Hall of Ahoskie, Karen T. Ingram of Bristow, VA, and Donna M. Hall of Ahoskie.
