Melanie A. Miller, 64, of West Fargo, ND passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in her home surrounded by family.
Melanie Ann Walstad was born on May 11, 1960, in Moorhead, MN to Clifford and Barbara (Rosenfeldt) Walstad. She grew up on the family farm in rural Moorhead. Melanie graduated from Moorhead High School in 1978 and went on to attend NDSU.
Following school, she worked at Dayton’s Department store for several years before joining her husband’s automotive supply company as the office manager where she spent the next 25 years.
Growing up, Melanie loved attending town hall lectures with her mother. She had many talents and excelled at everything she did. She was an artist in many forms; musically, she played the guitar and piano and had a wonderful voice to go with them. She loved working with her hands and was an expert seamstress and tailor. She crafted numerous quilts for family and others in the community. Melanie also enjoyed country music and loved traveling to various festivals and events around the country. She loved entertaining and was a wonderful cook and baker. She will be missed by many.
Melanie is survived by her brother, Lee Walstad; sister, Kari (Ron) Lammers; son, Aaron; granddaughter, Zoe; significant other, Ty Kunnanz; nieces and nephews, Melissa (Dave), Amy (Tony), Sam (Steph), Jay (Lynn), Becky (AJ), Alicia, Staza, Boone, Kirsten, Thomas and Jennifer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Corky and Barb; and brother, Kelly Walstad.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. A livestream of the service will be available here on Melanie's webpage.
Final resting place will be in Hoff Lutheran Cemetery, Rustad, MN.
