Melba Cox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNeil's Funeral Service on Feb. 20, 2025.
Melba Mahrie (Mason) Cox of Mustang, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. She was born in Atoka, Oklahoma.
After graduating from Capitol Hill High School, Melba worked as one of the few female executives at GECC (General Electric Credit Corporation) throughout the 70s. She got tired of everyone bossing her around so she later became a barber in the early 80s to work for herself. Melba was known for her dedication and hard work.
Melba was an avid bowler, competing until 2025. She also had a passion for gardening and was known for her ability to rejuvenate and care for plants. She often hosted sleepovers for her grandchildren and cooked a big country breakfast in the morning, complete with biscuits and gravy. Melba loved spending Sundays by the pool and watching her great grandchildren grow.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, brother (Roy Mason) and a grandson. She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Roylene, and grandchildren Justin Lindsay, Amanda Haines (Chris), and Conlin Lindsay (Tiffany), as well as six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Joyce Mason, nieces Dina Browning (JD), Amy Kirby (Randy) and nephew Ben Mason (Ronda) as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at McNeil's.
Services are being held at McNeil's Funeral Service on Monday, February 24th, at 10am, followed by a graveside service. Lunch will be provided to family and friends after the graveside.

Donna White

February 24, 2025

My name is Donna White and I bowl on the Monday Senior League that Melba was a part of ! Melba was a blessing to all who knew her! She was very kind and quiet for the most part unless she accidentally guttered a ball - then she would let us know that was not what she intended to do ! She always had a smile even when she was hurting and everyone on our league will miss her dearly ! Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and pray many sweet memories will fill your hearts and minds in the coming days and years!
