Melissa Fernandes

Melissa R. Fernandes, 56, of Cumberland, passed away at home on Saturday, Apri1 8, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Steve S. Fernandes. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Gloria (Nero) Palmieri.
Melissa worked for Dave's Marketplace, EquipNet, Nyman Manufacturing. She volunteered countless hours at Mercymount Country Day School, Mount St. Charles and the Cumberland Comets Softball Team. She was a graduate of Bryant College where she earned both her undergraduate in Marketing and her Master's in Business Administration (MBA), additionally she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Phoenix. Melissa was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Additionally, she was a member of the 1979 Little League World Series Softball Champion North Providence Team.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children, Talia Rose Fernandes and Jacob Domenic Fernandes; her brother, Stephen Palmieri and his wife Susan; sister of the heart, Mary Tobin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Deb Fernandes; father-in-law, Silvestre Fernandes; and four nieces and nephews, Stephen, Eric, Nathan, and Grace.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, 3587 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
