Melissa was born on April 7th, 1950 and passed away on
April 3rd, 2025 at the age of 74Melissa Patson, born on April 7th, 1950, in Portland, Oregon, passed away peacefully at home in Buckley, Washington, on April 3rd, 2025, surrounded by love. Known for her warmth, resilience, and kindness, Melissa touched the lives of everyone she met, making the world brighter through her presence.
She grew up in Portland before moving to Las Vegas, where she graduated from Rancho High School. Melissa remained deeply connected to her high school community, faithfully attending all her class reunions, a testament to her lifelong friendships and enduring spirit.
Melissa dedicated 33 years to Rainier State School in Buckley, where she made a significant impact and formed lifelong bonds with colleagues and clients. After retiring, she continued to serve her community with boundless energy and compassion. She volunteered with the Buckley Fire Department Association, the Buckley Police Examination Committee, Buckley City Council, and the Buckley Senior Housing Committee. She also cherished her monthly lunches with a group of ladies who had retired from Rainier State School, relishing the opportunity to reminisce and share laughs.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Perry Patson; her cherished children, Heather Morgan-Dewey, Allyson (Tayler) Helgren, and Jennifer (Josh) Comstock; her beloved grandchildren, Bradley Winne and Bailee Winne; and her siblings, Allison Blessing and Kerry Blessing. Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Edward Wied, and her mother, Wynonna Hensley. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Jeff Boulet, at White River Family Care, for the exceptional care he provided to Melissa.
A graveside service will be held on May 2nd, 2025, at Buckley Cemetery, at 11AM on the upper level. A celebration of life will follow on May 4th, 2025, at 1PM, at the Buckley Eagles. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Melissa's honor to the Buckley Fire Association, located at 611 S Division St, Buckley, WA 98321 or the Foothills Historical Society at 130 River Ave, Buckley, WA 98321.
Melissa will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know her. Her life was a testament to the strength of the human spirit, the beauty of compassion, and the joy of a life well-lived.

You were such a great friend to me Melissa. When I first moved to Buckley and was all alone, you came into my life like an angel. You gave me the gift of your friendship and immediately changed my life for the better . You were so kind and loving and always knew what to say or do to make me smile. Thank you for your friendship and all the laughs we had together. I was blessed to have you in my life and will always be grateful to you. I will miss you forever. Love Nancy
