Melissa Alcazar Simon

Melissa Alcazar Simon, aged 52, of River Ridge, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
She was predeceased by her mother, Cheryl Alcazar, and her brother, Kenneth (Kenny) Alcazar.
Born on March 10, 1971, Melissa was the daughter of Edward (Eddie) Alcazar and the late Cheryl Alcazar. She was born in Metairie, Louisiana, and spent her childhood in Kenner, Louisiana. As a young woman, she traveled to Pennsylvania, New York, Texas, and New Jersey with her family.
Melissa graduated from Bonnabel High School and went on to study nursing at Louisiana Technical College, where she obtained her LPN license while raising her three children. Nursing was not just a profession for Melissa, but a passion. She derived immense joy from her work and from her children, for whom she worked tirelessly as a sole provider.
Melissa was an exceptional woman, a devoted mother, and an extraordinary nurse. Her absence will be deeply felt by her family, colleagues, patients, and their families.
She leaves behind her children, Cody Simon, Charles Simon, and Dawn Simon, and her two grandchildren, Kannan and Knox Frost. She is also survived by her younger sister, Lori Alcazar Dean (David), and younger brothers, Edward (Eddie) Alcazar and David Alcazar, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will cherish her memory.
