Melton Tito Ruybal, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on March 24, 2025, at Conejos County Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He wasborn on February 2, 1960, in
Alamosa, Colorado, to Tito A. Ruybal Jr. and Dora M.Velarde Ruybal.
On November 11, 2000, Melton was united in marriage to the love of his life, Betsy Trujillo Ruybal. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with love and laughter.
Melton was a proud father to three children: Joe and Charmaine Ruybal of Conejos, Shaney Ruybal of Antonito, and Brenay M. Ruybal of Thornton, Colorado. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Jaylah Ruybal, Gabriel "Boy" Ruybal Casillas (Son), and Damien Salas, and was a doting great-grandfather to Easton Salas.
Melton is survived by his wife Betsy Ruybal of Antonito, CO, his children: Joe (Charmaine) Ruybal of Conejos, CO, Shaney Ruybal of Antonito, CO, Brenay Ruybal of Thornton, CO, grandchildren Jaylah Ruybal, Gabriel "Boy" Ruybal Casillas (Son), and Damien Salas, great-grandson Easton Salas; sisters, Marvela Ruybal of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Lois (Mark) McNabb of Thornton, Colorado; as well as his brother, Armando "Virgil" Ruybal of Antonito, Colorado. He also leaves behind numerous nephews, including Arine Chacon, Adam Chacon, Markie and Johnny McNabb, and Devon and Michael Ruybal;Adam Chacon Jr., Leland Chacon, Alec Chacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tito Ruybal Jr. and Dora M. Ruybal and grandparents, Tito Ruybal Sr. and Lela Ruybal.
Melton had a passion for life that was evident in all he did. He loved culinary arts, hunting, fishing, collecting coins, and riding his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle. His love for animals was also a significant part of his life. Melton was a member of the South Conejos School Board and Planning Commission Board for Conejos County where he proudly served his community for several years. Melton worked for many years as a superintendent in the construction and pipeline industry before establishing his own construction company in the San Luis Valley. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to mentoring young men.
Viewing and visitation will be held at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Antonito from 12:30-4
March 27, 2025. Vigil Service will be held on March 27, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Our Lady of
Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on March
28, 2025 at 11:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be
