Granada, MN
A Celebration of Life Gathering for Melva Lou Tonne, 91, of Granada, MN, will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Granada Fire Hall. Melva passed away on February 5, 2025, at Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont, MN. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Melva Lou (Roforth) Tonne was born on December 23, 1933, in Fairmont, MN, the daughter of Melvin and Louise (Plumoff) Roforth. Melva grew up on a farm north of Granada and attended country school. Melva then attended high school in Granada graduating from Granada High School. Following her graduation, Melva went on to further her education by attending Mankato Commercial College.
On August 1, 1953, Melva was united in marriage to Eugene W. Tonne at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont. The couple made their home on a farm east of Fairmont before purchasing her parents farm near Granada where they farmed until Eugene's retirement.
Melva loved life on the farm and worked hand in hand with her husband, planting, combining, hauling grain, and even applying anhydrous. She loved making quilts and shared them with those she cared about the most. Melva was a long-time member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and was active in the choir as well as helping with many other church projects and activities.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lesia (DuWayne) Jaskulke of Granada, MN, Robert (Deb) Tonne of Granada, MN, and Linnea (Randy) Peterson of Cross Lake, MN; grandchildren, John (Carmen) Jaskulke, Sarah (Kevin) Zabel, Amanda Jaskulke, Joshua (Tina) Jaskulke, Stacey Tonne, Matt (Carrie) Tonne, Ben Tonne, and Brandon (Amber) Peterson; great grandchildren, Cael Jaskulke, Lily Jaskulke, Khloe Zabel, Bennett Zabel, Gavin Bussinger, Ethan Jaskulke, Wyatt Jaskulke, Madysen Tonne, Payton Strauser, Lincoln Tonne, Avery Peterson, Ashlyn Peterson, and Braxton Peterson; as well as many other extended family and friends.
Melva was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Louis Roforth; and husband, Eugene Tonne.
