Mr. Melvin Monroe Clarke, 91, passed away Saturday January 28, 2023. He was born July 16, 1931 in Forsyth county to the late Ila and Edward Clarke. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher, a member of Winston Masonic Lodge #167 A.F & A.M, a member of the Gideons. Melvin also enjoyed spending time with friends, family and church members, as well as mowing lawns. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Bob and Doug Clarke, and one sister; Faye Lee Grimes. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years; Elaine Clarke, two daughters; Dianne Breeden, and Amy Dezarn (Jeff), two grandchildren; Travis Dezarn (Amanda), and Taylor Petty (David), and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00AM Tuesday January 31, 2023 at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Roberts and Bro. Kenny Heath officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mount Olive Cemetery Trust, C/O Wiley Burcham 1180 Chestnut Grove Road, King NC, 27021.
