Merle A. Bleick, 90 of Hendersonville, NC died Thursday, May 9, 2024 after a period of declining health. He was a native of Appleton, Wisconsin, a son of the late Roland and Edna Wunderlich Bleick. He graduated from Purdue University and along with his brother, Wayne, owned and operated Bleick Construction Company, as bridge contractors. Merle and his wife Carol Janet Bleick were married for 65 years prior to her death last April. They also lived in Placida, Florida and Brussels, Wisconsin for a time before retiring to Hendersonville 12 years ago.
Merle was also preceded in death by his sister Bernice B. Miller and his brother Wayne Bleick.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters Meredith B. Pelehach and her husband, Michael L. of Knoxville, TN and Alison J. Bleick and her husband, Robert L. Acker of Elgin, IL; a son, Thomas M. Bleick and his wife, Dana Swekosky of Horse Shoe, NC; five grandchildren Sarah J. Mayfield and her husband, Alex, Jane E. Pelehach, Eric M. Pelehach and his wife, Cari, Caroline N. Bleick and Andrew T. Bleick; and two great-grandsons, Nolan and Harrison; nieces and nephews Chris, Daniel and David Bleick, Susan Mitchell, James Miller Jr. and Kate Boyd.
A graveside service to celebrate Mr. Bleick's life will be held Monday, May 20 at 10 o'clock am at Appleton Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, WI.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
