Merle Lyn Morse, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the age of 70, Lansing, MI. He was born on October 10, 1955, to the late Robert and Joan (Sumption) Morse.
Merle graduated from Grand Ledge High School in the class of 1973. His dedication and hard work were evident throughout his career, culminating in his retirement as the dining manager from Burnham Hills Retirement Center. Even after retirement, Merle continued to serve his community by working part-time at Rainbow Homes Supportive Housing.
Merle's life was enriched by the love of his siblings, Cyndy (John) Young, Janice (George) Alli, and Patrick Morse. He shared a special bond with each of his nieces and nephews: Melissa (William) Wroblewski, Angela Alli, Robert Alli, Sam (Aushinay) Brooks, Simon Brooks, Jackson (Alyssa) Brooks, Cooper (Elizabeth) Brooks, Tess (Andrew) Alpers, and Grant Young. The light of his life extended to his great-nieces and nephews: Adalia, Aiden, Harper, Hannah, Amelia, Deacon, Imogen, and Nate, who will cherish memories of their kind-hearted great-uncle.
Merle was an excellent cook; he delighted in preparing meals for his loved ones and exploring new culinary adventures. His love for travel was not just for sightseeing but also for the joy of visiting friends and family, strengthening bonds across distances. Merle's affection for the outdoors was evident to any who visited him, as he could often be found on the golf course or watching the birds in his front yard, a pastime that brought him immense peace and contentment.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. The family has entrusted his care to Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, Grand Ledge. For online condolences please visit www.millsfuneral.com
