Cameron Gordon Wessels

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Cameron Gordon Wessels, who left us unexpectedly on October 20, 2025, at the young age of 30 due to a tragic accident. He was born to Andrea Lotycz and Scott Wessels on August 27, 1995, in Lansing, MI, and graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 2013. Cameron was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him, he was an incredible friend and a big family man who cared about everyone and always wanted to help whoever he could, he had an infectious smile that makes anyone feel better.
Cameron's enthusiasm for music, especially Twenty One Pilots, and attending concerts plus his passion for playing disc golf were just a couple of the things that brought him joy and connection with others. He even taught his step-son how to play disc golf, they loved to bond over it. Cameron loved animals, especially cats, he has rescued cats off the streets and from the shelters, he always had one in his life. Cameron also loved sports, he played many sports as a kid through high school like diving, football and baseball. He was a big sports fan from all MSU sports and was always loyal to the Detroit Lions, watching NFL football every week. One of his favorite things was playing video games, he regularly played Fortnite with his dad as a way to catch up with each other and enjoyed playing many other games as well. Cameron was also quite the foodie, he loved trying new places and new food and making new concoctions and loading everything with every type of hot sauce. He still has childhood friends to this day from elementary and high school, and he has met numerous lifelong friends, including his wife, through his previous jobs at Jersey Mike's Subs and Jersey Giant SUBS.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Alexis Gustafson; his step-son, Ciaran Gustafson; his mother, Andrea (Jeff) Lotycz; his father, Scott (Mindy) Wessels; his step-parents, Jason (Sandy) Winger; his sisters, Kadyn, and Avery Wessels and twin-sisters, Mollie and Mackenzie Winger; as well as his cherished grandparents, Kevin and Patricia Crowner, and Joe Wessels along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; childhood friends Charlie (Leah) Benson and David (Anna) Anderson and many other lifelong and close friends. Cameron was preceded in death by his grandma, Sherry Wessels.
Cameron will be remembered for his warmth and the laughter he brought into our lives.
