Joan (Joanie) Marie Love of Mason,
Passed away unexpectantly on October 16, 2025, at her home. Joanie was born November 8, 1956, in Lansing, Michigan to Norman Leroy and Phyllis L. (Scott) Love. She built her life around the people she loved most, finding her greatest happiness in time spent with family. Her grandchildren adored her and affectionately called her grandma, Nana or Mimi. Joanie retired from GM in 2005, after 29 years of service. She enjoyed camping, rock collecting, music, cooking and hosting family. She had a deep love for animals and opened her heart to every creature she met. Her beloved dog, Piper Sky, whom she adopted, was truly her world and constant companion.
Joanie is survived by her mother, Phyllis L. Love; life partner, Van Edward Mollette; children, Amber (Edward) Gutierrez of Stockbridge, Angela Dewaele of Stockbridge, Joshua Mollette of Charlotte; 6 grandchildren, Austin (Raven) Mollette, Dallas (Auggie) Mollette, Bradon (Emilee McKellar) Mollette, Sarah Dewaele, Elijah Dewaele, Manny Gutierrez; 4 great grandchildren, Colton, Jameson, Maverick and Waylon Mollette; sister, Luann (Gary) Gloden. She was preceded in death by her father; brother, Samuel Love.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 2:00pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel. Her love for animals shone through in all she did. Joanie devoted countless hours to the local animal rescues, donating blankets, food, and supplies to bring comfort to those without a home. She even promoted donation drives at Culver's in Jackson, uniting the community in compassion and kindness. Her gentle heart left pawprints everywhere she went. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Joanie to the Saving Innocent Souls Animal Rescue. To leave condolences for the family, visit our website www.millsfuneral.com.
