Merrill "Cookie" Amy Williams, a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother, died Saturday, August 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Cookie 73, of Bellevue, was born April 13, 1949, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Melvin and Mildred (Raterink) Barton. She obtained an Associate's Degree from The Lansing Business College. Cookie then began working for the U.S. Geological Survey. On May 6, 1972, Cookie married David Williams. Once they started a family she stayed at home with the children. She later started working for Signature Fundraising and later retired from Peckham Industries in 2012. Through all of her work Cookie was an exceptional short hand writer. Cookie enjoyed bowling in her younger years, sewing, reading, shopping, watching the birds especially hummingbirds, and most importantly Christmas. She made sure that the holidays were always a special time of the year. Each year she would buy a new Hallmark ornament for family members to add to their collection. Cookie herself started collecting ornaments and encouraged David to do the same. She was also an immaculate gift wrapper. Above all her biggest passion was her family.
Cookie is survived by her husband, David; children, Scott (Ronda Gaedert) Williams, Deanna (Joe) Miller; grandchildren, Madisen Williams, Jersey Gaedert, Simon Miller, and Nathanael Miller; brothers, Mike (Vickie) Barton, and Marc (Tracy) Barton; and dear friend, Gwen DePeel. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends are encouraged to support Cookie's family by attending services or sharing memories on her Tribute Page at www.prayfuneral.com. Visitation is Monday, August 15, 2022, from 10-11:00 a.m. at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be webcast so you may watch it from any computer, smartphone, or mobile device that has internet access. Go to www.prayfuneral.com, click on Cookie's tribute, then click on Photos and Videos from your computer (or Media from your smart phone). If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Me & cookie were good friends were we both use to work together at peckham. She was such a caring & sweet soul! She often brought in cookies to share with all! & they always where amazing! I later found out she really wasn't to far from where I live! Her hubby David even rotatatilled our garden one yr! After cookie retired I'd sometimes run into her at our local meijer store & we would catch up... sadely we lost touch I always thought of her from time to time and knew she was sick I just so happen to think of her this morning & like I do to some people I haven't heard of in sometime ill look them up... & that's when I seen of her passing. such a wonderful woman cookie was and I know anyone who had the pleasure to meet her or become her friend/family where very lucky people! She will be so greatly missed! RIP COOKIE!

It's tough to know where to begin... but I guess I'll start off by saying that Cookie was one of my favorite people in the whole entire world. I waited with such excitement for her to arrive at our yearly Barton reunions. She was always positive, had a beautiful smile, and told amazing stories. We used to laugh together, give each other updates about our kids/grandkids, and exchange genealogy information. I would hang onto every word she spoke; her stories about days gone by were incredibly fascinating. She sent the BEST holiday cards, and I eagerly awaited their arrival each year. Cookie was such a warrior; she looked adversity in the eye and fought back like a champ. Her strength and determination will always be a big source of inspiration for me; I can honestly say that I'm a better human being because I knew her. To Dave, Scott, Deanna, Mike, Marc, and your families - I am very sorry for your loss. But I am comforted by the fact that Cookie is no longer in pain and she is finally reunited with her parents. She will be dearly missed by those who were blessed enough to know her, but she will certainly never be forgotten. Our love to you all.

To the family of Cookie my deepest sympathy goes out to each and everyone of you. I was one of Cookies friends in school, in fact I considered Cookie my bestie friend.
Cookie I have been looking for you but I didn't find you in time and I am sorry for that. I will miss you so much just like your family and friends. You will be missed Cookie.
R.I.P. Cookie. Love you. Till I see you on the other side.
