Merrym Dawn Bruce, a light of love and beauty in her community of family and friends, passed away on June 19, 2025. Born on November 18, 1964, to Garner William Mathis I and Charlotte Hodges, in Brigham City, Utah, Merrym was a woman of style, grace, laughter and heart.
Her compassion for others is what lead her to pursue a Masters degree in Psychology from Weber State University. Merrym also was a licensed cosmetologist, she loved doing others hair and making them feel good about themselves. Merrym, loved doing her own hair and always had the spunkiest hair styles that fit her fun loving personality.
Merrym was the most caring person, she would do anything for anyone. Her heart was made of gold. Merrym was the best comforter, she would hug any and everyone she could. Her hugs always made people feel better. She always loved making people smile and laugh. Cracking jokes was one of her many ways of showing her love. She would post jokes daily, and she loved playing pranks.
Merrym was a women of faith. She went to school to become a preacher. She would read her bible with her morning coffee everyday. Merrym loved going to church every Sunday, as she loved the community and Christ.
She was a big believer in never wasting a day. She lived everyday to the fullest. Merrym would fill each day with love and laughter. She always made it a point to find the good in everything in life, including her disability.
Merrym was proud to be the youngest sibling of 7, Glory Farley, Charlotte Ann Reed, Garner William Mathis II, Karen Padilla, Robert Mathis, and Peggy Hibbits. Merrym was loved and cherished by her siblings from the moment she was born. Merrym's siblings blessed her with many nieces and nephews, who she loved, who loved her back.
Merrym was a loving mother to her children, Asab Allen Bruce and Michelle Bowen (Washington) and Courtney Elizabeth Archuleta (Utah).
Merrym adored her grandchildren, Brittanie Jacobsmeyer, Ecko Harris, Nehemiah Atkinson, Daegon Bruce, Merryck Bruce,and Aspen McLaughlin as they were her pride and joy. As well as her great-granddaughter Astrid Dawn Baird, who she would call her little ray of sunshine.
Merrym was loved by all. As many people looked up to her. She is going to be deeply missed by all of the many lives she has touched.
