Mia Rops Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crawford Family Funeral & Cremation Service - Edmond on Sep. 24, 2022.
Mia Christine Rops was born on October 20, 1967, to Max and Michie Methvin in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She died September 22, 2022, surrounded by family and friends.
She graduated from Putnam City Highschool in 1985, attended Baylor University and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1989. In 1993, she graduated from the University of Texas Law School and most recently practiced Workers Compensation Law for Travelers Insurance. Mia re-defined the forty-hour work week and produced the workload of three people.
Mia was blessed with two daughters, Madelyn Rops, born November 21, 2000, and Molly Rops, born November 4, 2003. She is survived by her girls, stepdaughter Amanda, mother Michie Methvin, brother Mark Methvin and wife Sherri, niece Courtney Exendine and husband Craig, nephew Carter Methvin, and great nephew Howard Max Exendine, and numerous other family and friends. She is predeceased by her father Max Methvin, whom she adored.
Her formative years were spent participating in dance, either dancing in Ballet Oklahoma or teaching other students. She was also a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. It was during college where she found a love for travel which continued throughout her life. Mia was a force of nature, had impeccable taste in fashion and was a ferocious reader. Her intelligence, confidence and wisdom were second to none. She was honest without judgment and a best friend to all who knew her. She was an avid sports fan who could hold her own in any conversation from basketball to golf. At the same time, Mia was all girl.
Mia loved Jesus and stood firmly in His guidance which is apparent in the spirit of her girls. They were her everything and she was their best friend, provider and role model. She was their biggest fan, nothing thrilled her more than to watch them participate in their activities. From pom to dance to academic accomplishments, she emphasized responsibility and accountability. Most importantly her mission was to impart upon her girls a sense of kindness, independence, love, loyalty and giving. When you look at her girls, you see the reflection of Mia in all that they are. Mia's love and legacy continues to live on through Maddie and Molly.
The hole left in our lives can never be filled. When we look at the moon, we will always remember the love and friendship she freely gave. To steal a phrase from one of her favorite children's books, I love you to the moon and back. and back, and back, and back.
A service to remember and celebrate Mia's life will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 2:00PM at Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond. Visitation will be held throughout the day prior, Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 12:00PM-8:00PM, with the family of Mia being present from 6:00PM-8:00PM, at Crawford Funeral Home in Edmond.
