Michael D. Benson

Michael Benson, our beloved friend, has taken his final adventure, leaving us with hearts full of memories and eyes filled with tears. From a young age, Michael was the spirited ringleader of neighborhood escapades, a mischievous companion whose antics forged lifelong friendships. Despite his health challenges, teenage Michael never hesitated to dive into backyard football, often regaling us with tales of how we'd managed to jostle his pacemaker wires loose. Through the years, Michael was a constant presence at weddings, births, and every significant moment in between. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and loved, always eager to catch up on the latest happenings in the lives of his friends and family. His passion for poker earned him local tournament wins and thrilling trips to Las Vegas, where he lived out his dreams on the felt. Back at home, Michael's heart belonged to his family felines. He could rattle off the names of every cat he'd ever owned, each one the star of a humorous story or a boast about who loved him most. His love for music was as diverse as his personality, often finding solace in a pair of headphones and a warm cup of coffee or tea. A simple trip to the dollar store or Dunkin' Donuts could light up his day. Michael was a devoted uncle, brother, and son. He cherished his father's generosity, his mother's steadfast companionship, and the unwavering support he always received from his sister. Michael will be forever cherished for his infectious humor, his boundless kindness, and his indomitable spirit. He was, and always will be, truly one of a kind. We will miss you, Mike, but we find comfort in the laughter and love you've left behind.
In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his sister: Melinda Benson of Saylorsburg; two nieces: Lily Jorgensen and Silvia Williams; one nephew: Christian Benson; and a great grand-nephew: Giovanni Cammarata.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 26 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville, followed by a service at 12:00 PM with Monsignor Vincent York officiating. A burial will continue at Buena Vista Cemetery.
