Michael Brittingham Obituary
Michael Anthony Brittingham departed this life on April 19, 2024. His loss was completely unexpected and his family is profoundly saddened.
Michael was born on May 2, 1963, in Dover, DE to Bessie A. Rushin and Robert "Bobby" Young. He was the oldest child of six siblings; Randy "Wimpy", Ronald "Hurt", Tommy "Boo-Boo", Verona, Perrin, and Tonya. Mike was blessed to have a large, loving family.
Michael graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, DE, before serving three years in the United States Army. After the military, Michael was employed for many years through Perdue, Grottos and Mountainaire Farms.
Michael, known as "Lil Mike" or "Dog," enjoyed spending time with his family. He would be the first to arrive at family gatherings and the first to pack plates before eating. He needed a plate for Denise, and additional plates for lunch and dinner the next day. Mike would often ask his special sister in law, Joyce, to cook his favorite meal. Lil Mike enjoyed watching sports and sports betting. On Sundays, you could find him at Grottos or Nicola Pizza, with "the crew," watching football while keeping an eye on his tickets. His favorite team was the San Francisco 49ers.
Mike often enjoyed sitting by the water to think. Massey's Landing Beach was one of his special places to sit and chat with his brother, Hurt.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Bobby" Young, a bonus father, Thomas Rushin, grandparents, Rose Harris, Jack Young, Thoris Young, aunts, Constance Brittingham, Marcelia Cannon, Anita Brittingham; uncles, Junior Miller, Martin Burton Sr, and Robert "Stink" Brittingham; nephew, Travoris Brittingham, and cousin Shanika Brown.
Michael's presence will be sorely missed but his memory and legacy will continue through his mother, Bessie A. Brittingham of Belltown, DE; his six children, Bryant "B" Thomas of Lincoln, DE; Taliah White of Dover, DE; Tiffany "Bird" Cox of Bear, DE; Brittany "Britt" Cox of Milford, DE; Mikeala "Baby Girl" Davis of Millsboro, DE. MaJaya Williams (Tyrone North) of Texas; seven grandchildren, Jadrien Flowers Jr., Gianna Flowers, Kamiyah Kemp, Olivia Thomas, Tyre' Thomas, and Bryant Thomas II, Lola North; a great- grandson, Kassan Thomas; six siblings, Ronald "Hurt" Brittingahm (Joyce) of Millsboro, DE; Randy "Wimpy" Brittingham of Belltown, DE; Tommy "Boo- Boo" Rushin Sr. (Michele) of Lincoln, DE; Perrin Stevenson of Wilmington, DE; Tonya Lovett of Wilmington, DE; Verona Pray of Clarksville, TN; special friends Jane Davis, Denise Miller, Felicia Collins, Lynette Burroughs; and a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous relatives.
