Michael Anthony Jacob Bucher, Sr., better known as "Big Mike," passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the age of 46. He was born on February 12, 1979, in Harrisburg to Charlmayne "Char" D. Bucher and the late Michael Anthony Gianquitto.
If you knew Big Mike, you knew he was the life of the party and the heart of his family. He had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor and a laugh that could fill a room. He loved his music, and there was never a dull moment when he was around - always cracking jokes, singing along, or getting everyone else to join in.
He loved spending time outdoors, especially down by the Susquehanna River with a fishing pole in hand - and maybe a Natty Ice if it was a hot day. Big Mike grew up playing football and went to William Penn High School. He stayed loyal to his team - a true New York Giants fan through and through (even when they made it hard to be).
Big Mike was an amazing cook, and cooking was how he showed love. His spaghetti and pork chops were legendary in the family, and his daughter Ma'Kaila will especially miss his famous hamburger helper. He made every meal with heart, and his family always knew how much he cared.
More than anything, Big Mike was a family man. He loved hard and stayed close to the people who mattered most. The bond he shared with his mom, Char, was something truly special - he always made sure to live close to her. His kids, family, and friends were his world, and he made sure they all knew it.
Big Mike is survived by his mom, Char Bucher; his kids, Michael Anthony Jacob Bucher, Jr. and Ma'Kaila Bucher; his sisters, Brianna Jones and Charnay Jones; his niece, Den'Nylah Smith; nephews, Tae'Von Brown and Den'Ni Smith, Jr.; and the mother of his children, Kayla Milesco. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Richard "Pap" Gianquitto, who played a big role in raising him.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Neumyer Funeral Home in
Harrisburg, PA.
Big Mike will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His laughter, love, and larger-than-life spirit will live on forever in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
