MICHAEL BUSH, SR.

Michael “Cigar” Bush, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the age of 71. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Michael was a 1972 graduate of L. B. Landry High School, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. He was an avid sports fan, whether playing or watching, Michael enjoyed basketball, baseball, football, and track throughout the years. He was employed as a certified welder for many years with various companies, prior to retiring from Huntington Ingalls Industries. Beloved husband of 47 years to Dorothy S. Bush. Devoted father of Michael (Brandy T.) Bush, Jr., Dwayne C. Sumler and the late Dercel “Woo” J. Bush. Loving grandfather of Tyrianne, Michael, and Devin Bush, DeJonae Sumler and Domani Green. Great grandfather of Kameron, Theori, Katelyn, A’Nyla, Charlie, and Kristopher. Son of the late Vernon and Wilhemina Bush. Grandson of the late Willie and Gladys Harrison. Brother Vernon (Mary) Bush, Donald (Lucy) Bush, Rodney (Musheerah) Cambrice, Madeline B. Johnson, Regina Bush-Gilson, and the late Gladys B. Perry, and LeeAnn B. Williams. Brother-in-law of Armond J. (Alice) Sumler. Godson of Catherine Edwards. Also cherishing his memories are his goddaughter Chevelle Moore, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Good Hope Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Minister Kenneth Bush, officiating.
