Michael James Cook Sr.

Michael James Cook, Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 65. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 27, 1959, to the late, Donald Cook Sr. and Barbara Gaspard Cook.
Michael was a parishioner of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. He enjoyed annual trips to Cozumel on the Carnival cruise lines, fishing, and cooking on his BBQ Smoker. Of all the things he enjoyed, Michael's favorite was spending time with his family.
Michael was preceded in death by his father: Donald Cook Sr.; his son: Wayne Michael Cook, great-granddaughter: Helen Cassiana Hartman, sister: Debra Cook, father-in-law: Eugene Theriot Sr. and his mother-in-law: Bessie Theriot.
He leaves behind his mother: Barbara Gaspard Cook, devoted wife: Barabara Theriot Cook, children: Michael Cook Jr. (Robyn), Scott Cook (Sarah), Paula Trahan (Jarred), Eva Desoto (James), Samantha Brantley, Jaime Habisreitinger (Eugene Sr.), 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, along with his brother and sister: Donald Cook Jr. and Shariden Cook.
He will be dearly missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening visitation on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
A funeral mass will take place the following morning, Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. Philip Neri Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave, Metairie, LA 70003. Mass will start at 10:00 am. A brief viewing will be held an hour prior to mass, burial will be following immediately after in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001.
